The wide range of applications of
Hopro Honeycomb |
|
|
Hopro Honeycomb is used for producing
lightweight constructions which have extremely
favorable characteristics with regard to
stiffness or transparency or both. In addition,
the stationary air inside the honeycomb channels
results in favorable insulation characteristics.
Hopro Honeycomb is made of a synthetic material
that is very resistant to water and moisture and
may be used in applications where it comes into
contact with foodstuffs. |
|
Hopro Honeycomb is used in a large variety of end
products and semi-finished products in which weight,
strength and particularly moisture-resistance play an
important role. |
Examples of such applications include: |
• Lightweight doors
Large doors in which Hopro Honeycomb is used as a core
material can be fitted with lighter hinges and other
fittings. Such doors are also water-resistant and may,
for example, be cleaned with high-pressure jet sprays,
making them ideal for use in rooms which must regularly
be disinfected. |
• (Kitchen) countertops
Kitchen countertops with large thicknesses are the
latest rage! Horpo Honeycomb is the perfect solution
here. A very thin layer of the heavier material (e.g.
stone) is simply supported by the lightweight Hopro
Honeycomb core. Such a construction minimizes breakage.
Installation is also easier and less expensive, since
fewer workers are needed. Moisture and condensation
coming from the dishwasher and other kitchen equipment
are no problem, since Hopro is 100% water-resistant. |
• Lightweight panels
Hopro Honeycomb offers the combination of strength and
light weight required for building truck bodies,
compartment walls in trains and ships, institutional
doors, trade fair exhibits, podia, and planks for
scaffolding and market applications.
Due to the flexibility of Hopro Honeycomb (before
an outer skin is applied), it is used for shaping boats
and other large objects which must be lightweight and/or
water-resistant while retaining their shape under very
heavy loading factors. |

|
• Roof windows
When used in roof windows, Hopro Honeycomb provides
excellent heat insulation. The honeycomb structure
distributes the light and removes heat input in the form
of infrared radiation. As a result, Hopro Honeycomb
helps create a more enjoyable work environment by
eliminating excessive direct sunlight, minimizing shadow
effects, and optimizing the distribution of light ('Northern
lights’ effect). The stationary air present in the
channels of the honeycomb structure also minimizes the
loss of heat to the outside air.

• Transparent ceiling elements
When built into ceilings which transmit light, Hopro
Honeycomb functions as a sunshade.
